Industrial copper foil can be divided into Calendered copper foil and Electrolytic copper foil Electrolytic copper foil is the mainstream product in the current market because of its low cost, reliable performance and other advantages, with a market share of more than 95%.

Electrolytic copper foil is a key functional basic raw material in the electronics manufacturing industry, which is mainly used for the production of lithium-ion batteries and printed circuit boards (PCBs). According to the application field, electrolytic copper foil can be divided into Lithium copper foil And standard copper foil.

The thickness of lithium copper foil is generally less than 20 μ m. It is an important raw material for making lithium batteries, and is widely used in automotive power lithium batteries, 3C digital products, energy storage and other fields. Standard copper foil is commonly used in electronic information industry such as printed circuit board (PCB).

 Copper foil

Lithium battery copper foil is the preferred material for negative collector of lithium battery due to its excellent properties such as good conductivity, oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, soft texture, easy bonding, etc., plus its low price, mature manufacturing process and other characteristics.
Copper foil acts as the carrier of negative active material and negative collector in the structure of lithium battery.

The typical lithium ion battery structure mainly includes four parts: positive pole, negative pole, electrolyte and diaphragm. When the lithium battery is charged, the potential added to the two poles of the battery forces the lithium intercalation compound of the positive electrode to release lithium ions, which are embedded into the graphite negative electrode with a lamellar structure after passing through the diaphragm; During the discharge, lithium ions are separated from the graphite with lamellar structure and combined with the lithium intercalation compound of the cathode again, so lithium ions can move and generate current.

Copper foil has good conductivity, flexibility and moderate potential. It is resistant to winding and rolling. The manufacturing technology is mature and the price is relatively low. In this process, it is used as the carrier of negative active materials such as graphite, as the negative collector, and as the current generated by the active materials of the battery, resulting in greater output current.
